The North American/Midwest Broomball Tournament took place December 8, 9 at Augsburg Ice Arena in Minneapolis. It featured 12 teams on the Men’s side, and 4 in Women’s, and 5 in Co-Rec. On the Men’s side, teams were separated into 4 pools with the top 2 teams advancing to the North American bracket. Met X, Chiefs, C&L, and Kelly Lake all finished 1st in their pools. Three of those Four would advance to the semi-finals. Legion BC defeated the Chiefs 4-3 to secure the other spot in the semi-finals. In the first semi-final, Met X knocked off Legion BC 3-1 to advance to the championship. In the bottom half of the bracket, Kelly Lake defeated C&L 3-2. In the championship game, Kelly Lake beat Met X by a score of 4-0 (two empty net goals) to capture their record-breaking 5th consecutive North American Championship.
In the Midwestern Bracket, Ice Mafia defeated the Flames 4-2 to take home the Midwest title.
In North American Women’s action, Arctic Blast and the Gray Ducks finished as 1 and 2 respectively from pool play and advanced to the championship game. Arctic Blast secured a 1-0 victory.
In Co-Rec, the Minnesota Squall secured the top seed. The defeated the Cold Chalupas 5-1 to advance to the title game. AOTS defeated T-Reckless 4-1 in the other semi-final. Details are missing here, but the Squall remain the Co-Rec team to beat as the reigning national Co-Rec champions secured the victory.
